About Sandy (Imlach) Raffan

My darling wife, best friend and soul mate Sandy passed away on April 22nd 2013 at the age of only 54. She had been diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma six months before and despite the Chemotherapy treatment having appeared to work to cure the cancer, she suddenly developed a rare side effect to one of the drugs and was tragically unable to recover.

Sandy was not only a devoted and loving life partner to me for almost 35 years, but also a wonderful and dedicated mother to our dear children Zara and Jonathan.

Let me tell you a little about Sandy.

Sandy was a truly beautiful person inside and out. The love, care and thoughfulness that she had and gave to all around her, both humans and animals, was remarkable and everyone who knew her or even briefly met her was immediately aware of that. The warmth that emanated from her was boundless.

Having been brought up surrounded by animals (her mother was a high end breeder of Siamese cats), Sandy's love and care for animals was instilled in her at an early age and grew with her over the years.

Any form of cruelty, mistreatment or lack of proper care for humans or animals was abhorrent to her and she was never afraid to voice her disgust and to step in to do something about it when she encountered stupid or ignorant people engaging in acts that were causing pain or distress. Her anger in these situations was as strong as her love. Believe me you would not have wanted to be caught by Sandy in any act of cruelty!

Sandy was of course an avid supporter of PETA and several other similar causes. Even when she was latterely very sick in bed she still found the energy and time to keep signing up for petitions to end animal cruelty.

I think therefore that this PETA Memorial site is a very apt and fitting way to pay tribute to Sandy.

If you knew Sandy in any way and would like to remember and pay tribute to her, please, please consider contributing to this fundraising effort in any way you can, and please pass on the link to any friends who may have known her.

Even if you did not know Sandy but have stumbled accidently onto this Memorial page, perhaps you might also want to think about contributing to this very worthy cause that was so close to Sandy's heart and which I also believe is very important.

I really hope that together we can meet or exceed the fundraising target of $5000 that I have set. Sandy would be so pleased and proud if we can.

Placed in loving memory of Sandy: An Eternally Beautiful Angel who will be forever in our hearts.
